General and Specialized Care:
We provide care that includes specialized treatment services designed for children with emotional disorders. Individual treatment goals are developed for each child together with parents, guardians, case workers and counselors.
Child abuse prevention:
This program is aimed toward the children and the public. It is a comprehensive program intended to teach about the importance of responsibility and behavior management to minimize the generational passing-on of abusive behaviors.

Life Skills:
(CLTA) Changing Life Through Adversity™ – Teaches Life Skills such as personal and interpersonal skills, job skills, accessing community and other resources, fundamentals on housing and transportation as well as health care, planning for the future, money management and child health/safety.
Our house is a HOME:
Forbes Place will be a child friendly environment with simple necessities such as a warm meal, a feeling of security and a shoulder to cry on. Many children are left in abusive situations by CPS because it is difficult to place them if removed from the home or the situation they are in, at which time they become re-victimized.
Forbes Place will also offer age-appropriate counseling to help the child adjust to new surroundings and cope with what is happening in their lives. We hope to further the cause of child abuse prevention in conjunction with parental guidance to prevent future abuse in their homes.

Referrals:
Referrals for Forbes Place will come from drug treatment centers, Child Protective Services, case workers, and social service agencies.
The need for safe, decent shelters/foster group homes that provide temporary transitional living services for abused, neglected, abandoned, and drug-affected children increases everyday.
In Dallas/Tarrant County, there is a great need for transitional housing for children and teens. In the year 2007 Data Book (http://www.dfps.state.tx.us) Region 3 of CPS in Texas, Dallas and Tarrant County alone, had over 11,000 confirmed victims of child abuse and over 28,000 unconfirmed victims. Those numbers increase every day. According to the 2007 Child Abuse and Neglect-Community Assessment Update Families Impact Council, child abuse in Tarrant County has continued to rise while National numbers are decreasing. We will offer the additional space for placements that are currently being turned away from other places due to lack of room.
